07/07/2026
If you are contacted by someone claiming to be a deputy with the Baker County Sheriff's Office and you have any concerns, call the Baker County Sheriff's Office at 229-734-3002. We will never ask for money over the phone or money to drop a warrant. If you receive any calls that are suspicious in any way, we encourage you to reach out to us.
Recently, citizens of Baker County have been receiving calls from Rhines, Georgia. But, it could be from anywhere, not just Rhines. The name that is being used is Officer Williams or Deputy Williams. Again, it could be any name. The individual asks for money because you missed your court date and a warrant is going to be issued, or you didn't pay your citation or tolls. He will tell you that you cannot hang up the phone with him until the money is transferred to a particular account or you buy cards at Walmart and give him the access numbers. THIS IS A SCAM! Do not give him money. Call our office if you need verification. The Baker County Sheriff's Office does not ask for money to clear a warrant nor do we call you to pay a traffic citation or pay money for a missed court date. We do not ask for money.
Please talk to your family members that do not have access to this message and let them know what is going on. We need to get the word out to as many residents as we can.
Thank you for your help in keeping our citizens safe from this kind of criminal activity.
